Phoebe is home from the vet.
Phoebe is very happy to be home (my parents house aka her Louisville home) from surgery. She is very sore, but she is relaxing on her new bed. This will HAVE to be her replacement for her jumping up on the couch and bed. This will definitely be a tough habit to break, but a Serta dog bed should hopefully do the trick. Her favorite quilt on top of it doesn’t hurt either.
Hopefully the 4-1/2 hour trip to Pigeon Forge should go okay tomorrow. She has always been a great traveling pup.
She will get to hang out in my office at work during the days that Michelle isn’t home (at least over the next couple of weeks). She is the best dog and we look forward to nursing her back to health! She will be back in ship shape for her good walk routine by mid Spring. Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg really do have some terrific areas to walk.
We are so happy she is back with us and not at the hospital.

It is such a relief when they’re finally home. Any word on when you’ll get the pathology report?
They told us within ten days. It is definitely a relief having her back. It is nerve racking, because we know she is so sore and she hasn’t went to the bathroom since earlier with doctor’s office. I am sure adjusting to three legs will be tough for the first week or two.
good to hear phoebe is resting comfortably. it sometimes takes a bit for that first pee and first poop – it will be a moment of celebration when it happens. please let us know if we can help you with any questions, we’re next door in knoxville and can recommend oncologist, acupuncture vet, etc if needed. phoebe will amaze you as she gets her ‘sea legs’.

Thanks so much. I will definitely take you up on that. I pray that she will have a clean bill of health after the surgery and she can enjoy and love life again!
Welcome home Pheobe! Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
Thanks for sharing the picture and the update. I know she will get around soon and in a few months be able to up to her walks. I sure do love her and am willing to help in any way I can. I am contining to say prayers for my little furry friend and a speedy recovery.
I will call you later. Cannot wait for you to see her. Maybe during Christmas!!
Welcome home Phoebe. The first few days will be difficult but, before you know it, you will be running around like before!
Be sure to use this site to help you through your journey, it has been very helpful to me.

Hi Phoebe, and welcome home! It will take some time to get used to the new way of doing things, but dogs are resilient creatures. Dakota didn’t pee for something like 34 hours after we brought him home, and I was about to take him back to have the docs do their bladder magic when he finally went. We had a party (we celebrate that sort of thing here) and then it was easier. Once they figure out they can do so many things, they just jump in and go. Good luck, and keep us posted.
